VINTAGE CASS THEATER DETROIT photo picture photograph print for sale. This is a very rare DETROIT CASS THEATRE photo picture print for sale from the Opening Day Premiere of The Detroit Cass Theater on Sept. 12, 1926.It opened with a production of Sigmund Romberg's 'Princess Flavia.' From the 1920's through the 1940's the Cass Theater was a showcase for the greats of the world stage, including the likes of Boris Karloff, Bette Davis, W C Fields and many other famous stars from that era. The forty foot tall sign was removed in 1945. As times changed the legitimate theater format was replaced by 'film' and it became the Cinerama Summit Theater until the building was demolished in 1977. There were a couple of cracks on the surface of the original almost 100 year old original photograph that have been repaired that do not detract at all from the wonderful and rare historic image of THE CASS THEATRE.

THESE BLACK AND WHITE DETROIT PHOTO ART PRINTS ARE VERY HIGH QUALITY REPRODUCTIONS OF ORIGINAL OLD VINTAGE HISTORICAL DETROIT PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS. THESE SEPIA TONED DETROIT BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOS ARE OFFERED FOR SALE HERE FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME. THEY HAVE BEEN MADE FROM ORIGINAL NEGATIVES OR ORIGINAL FIRST GENERATION PRINTS, MANY OF THEM ARE 50 YEARS OLD AND SOME DATE TO THE EARLY 1920's AND 1930's. The quality of the Jan Kaulins' photographic prints is much higher than we can show within limits of this web site. Slight tonal changes and blurring around the areas of strong contrast are a result of the JPEG compression process, and are not part of the high quality originals.
